There’s something wonderfully versatile about leaves when it comes to card making.

They can be soft and subtle, bold and colourful, clean and simple or layered with lots of texture — which makes the Elegant Leaves Bundle such a lovely one to experiment with.

For this week’s creative inspiration, I created three very different cards using the same bundle.

Rather than jumping straight into a complicated design, these projects gradually build in detail. We’ll begin with a simple stamped focal point, add texture and layering to our second card, and then bring everything together in a colourful leaf wreath.

If you’re still building your card-making confidence, this is a great reminder that you don’t have to master everything at once.

What I love most about this bundle is the variety you can create from such simple elements. You can keep things clean and simple with a single stamped leaf, add layers and texture with the coordinating dies, or combine lots of leaves to create a more detailed design.

It’s one of those bundles that gives you plenty of room to experiment without needing lots of different supplies — which is exactly what we’re going to explore with the three projects below.

Card 1: Keep It Simple With One Beautiful Leaf

Our first Elegant Leaves card is deliberately simple.

The large stamped leaf creates a strong focal point without needing lots of additional elements. I added ink blending behind the leaf to create a warm glow and help it stand out against the white background.

A simple “hello” sentiment and a few small embellishments finish the card without making the design feel too busy.

This project is perfect for practising ink blending and creating a focal point.

Beginner Tip

When ink blending, begin with less ink than you think you’ll need.

Start blending lightly outside your focal area and gradually build the colour. You can always add another layer of ink, but it’s much harder to remove colour once it becomes too dark.

And don’t worry about creating a perfectly even circle of colour. The soft, slightly irregular edges are part of what makes this technique so lovely.

Card 2: Add Texture and Layers

For our second project, we’re adding another layer of interest — quite literally!

This time I used two different leaf shapes and layered them together to create the focal point.

The embossed white background adds plenty of texture while still allowing those beautiful autumn-coloured leaves to be the star of the card.

A little natural thread tucked behind the leaves adds another texture, while the “sending caring thoughts” sentiment stretches across the design and anchors everything together.

This card introduces embossing, die-cut layering and combining different textures.

Beginner Tip

When you’re arranging die-cut pieces, don’t glue anything down immediately.

Place your pieces onto the card and move them around until the arrangement feels balanced. Try overlapping the leaves slightly rather than positioning each one separately.

Once you’re happy with your arrangement, you can begin adhering the pieces one at a time.

Taking those extra few moments to experiment before reaching for the adhesive can make designing feel much less stressful.

Card 3: Create a Colourful Leaf Wreath

Now we’re stretching our creativity!

For the final card, I used lots of die-cut leaves in rich autumn shades of red, orange, yellow and brown to create a wreath-style arrangement around the card.

There are considerably more elements in this design than our first two projects, but the card still feels cohesive because the same leaf shapes and colours are repeated throughout.

The textured background gives the design somewhere to rest visually, while the simple sentiment sits across the centre of the wreath.

This project is a wonderful example of how repetition can turn simple die-cut shapes into a much more detailed design.

Beginner Tip

If a project like this looks overwhelming, don’t try to position every leaf perfectly before you begin.

Start by placing your leaves around the card to establish the basic shape of your wreath.

Then fill the gaps.

You can also limit yourself to three or four colours. Repeating those colours around the design will help everything feel intentional rather than random.

One Bundle, Three Completely Different Looks

This is exactly why I enjoy taking one stamp set or bundle and creating several projects with it.

You begin to see possibilities you might not notice when looking at the products in the catalogue.

With the Elegant Leaves Bundle, we went from:

• one stamped leaf with simple ink blending
• layered leaves with embossing and texture
• a colourful wreath filled with die-cut leaves

The individual techniques aren’t particularly complicated.

It’s how we combine them that changes the finished design.

And that’s something I really want you to remember when you’re looking at beautiful handmade cards and thinking, “I could never make that.”

You don’t need to start with the finished card.

Start with one leaf.

Learn one technique.

Then add another.

That’s how creative confidence grows.
